Our story
In a world that moves fast, everyone needs a place to slow down. THIRD. is a modern bakery and specialty coffee shop where craft, calm and connection come together.
Wielingenstraat 22, Amsterdam Zuid
01What THIRD. means
THIRD. carries two meanings, both essential to who we are: the Third Wave of coffee and the Third Place in society. One is about the product and the craft behind it, the other about the place where it is enjoyed.
IThird Wave
The Third Wave is about respect. About treating coffee not as a product to rush through, but as a craft.
We trace our beans back to their origin, and honour the farmers, the soil and the careful roasting process.
IIThird Place
Between home and work, you need a refuge. A place where you can linger, where the barista knows your order and where time slows down for a moment.
The American sociologist Ray Oldenburg called such places third places: the places beside home and work where a neighbourhood meets. That is the place we want to be.
02The vision
Exceptional coffee deserves a place worthy of it. We believe small moments, done with precision, are what make a place worthwhile: an espresso that is just right, bread that has been given its time, a table where you are welcome to stay.
Craft cannot be rushed. It takes patience, precision and an unwavering commitment to quality.

04The space and the neighbourhood
When we found this converted warehouse in Amsterdam Zuid, we knew immediately: this is it. We didn't want to hide its history behind layers of plasterboard and paint.
Raw concrete, warm oak and tall industrial windows, within walking distance of the neighbourhood that carries it.
